I count my privilege

When I eat fresh food, drink clean water

Breathe air that is not filled with the smell of blood.

As my news feeds take me to the reality of the world,

Where children are dying in Gaza,

The civil war in Syria has ended, but

More than 1 million Syrians return to rubble and destruction

Civil wars are going on in Sudan, Myanmar

Women are fighting for the basic right to education in Afghanistan

For the right not to wear headscarves in Iran

The word tolerance has lost its meaning

People have become savages on the streets.

Killing each other in a fit of rage.

Maybe it’s time to give the reins to women

And bring some peace to this world

Well, I hope for a miracle to happen and find a wormhole,

And take me to the universe

Another world where the species called Homo sapiens does not exist.

Where there will be free will,

And the species do not talk to each other,

Because communication is clearly not working in our world.
