They sat in a café sipping their Americano.
The lit ambience,
Those wonderful books on the shelf and,
The aroma of raw cocoa beans blending perfectly with hot water fills the air.
He looks at her and lowers his gaze.
Too afraid to look at her for more than a few seconds,
Worried that he might get lost in her curious eyes.
He musters courage and says,
“You look breathtaking as the mellow light falls on you.
Forgive my audacity, but,
My mind drifts to Marie Curie with her radium.
You are always thinking about something.
But you rarely put them in words.
You may think your thoughts are unworldly.
But they are like fuel to my heart.
So, just let those words flow out of you.”
She blushed as her hair fell on her reddened cheeks.
She took out her phone and told him to take her picture.
After he showed her his best click, she wondered to herself
She wasn’t even close to beautiful.
Then she realised it was his eyes that made her beautiful.
No camera could justify her beauty more than his eyes.
She associates with pain so much that she wants to leave love behind.
And she may never be happy knowing children are dying around the world.
Paying the price for being born in an illogical world.
A broken heart is much better than an empty heart.
So, she gives in to this eccentric, wide-eyed, inquisitive guy.
